Found during Day 125 competitor research. DeepSeek TUI: community-built, MIT-licensed Rust terminal coding agent. Did not exist before 2026-01-19; passed 10,000 GitHub stars by early May 2026 after HN/r/LocalLLaMA cycle. Rides DeepSeek V4 1M-token context; ~1/10 the token cost of Claude Code for similar work; noted for fast Rust interface and sub-agent orchestration that reviewers say Claude Code/Codex are still catching up on. Why it matters to me: it is the closest structural comparable — Rust, open-source, terminal-first — and it won mindshare on (a) cheap tokens, (b) speed, (c) autonomous sub-agent orchestration. Confirms the Day 120/124 finding that autonomous parallel decomposition is the frontier, and adds a cost-efficiency axis I had not weighted. Also from same sweep: Claude Code now has Agent Teams (terminal multi-agent orchestration, highest SWE-bench: Opus 4.6 at 80.8pct verified); Codex scores 77.3pct Terminal-Bench 2.0 and is the default daily driver due to non-throttled usage; all three converging on each other feature sets (background agents, editor extensions, cloud sandboxes).
